HOW TO CREATE A CAPSULE WARDROBE

WHAT IS CAPSULE WARDOBE

Capsule wardrobe was first coined by Susie First in 1970 and was put into terms when Donna Karan started the closet change. It is a great way to curate your own style by using the classic and styled outfits in your wardrobe. It’s a closet reducing programme where you can reduce buying new pieces from the market and use or mix and match whatever you have with you. With the pandemic situation all over the world, it is really difficult for a person to spend money on clothes which costs a bomb. This is the best way to reuse clothes and make it look so trendy that it shows a different styled fashion outfit to everyone.

SHOPPING

My favorite way to go ahead with the style quotient……As a woman, we always want to look beautiful, smart, fashionable and elegant. Shopping is a part and parcel of our daily life. Few people love to do window shopping and few for serious shopping. We love to splurge on shopping as it has become our necessity. We never think about the pros and cons of the amount we spend. With the pandemic situation, we started investing less on our clothes and this made us use our old clothes in a different way.

HOW TO START A CAPSULE WARDROBE

1. ANALYZE YOUR STYLE QUOTIENT

Firstly, you need to analyze which type of outfits you prefer, most important of all the things.

2. CLEANING YOUR CLOSET

One day I just went through my closet just to know I have such outfits which I really don’t prefer to wear but I’m emotionally attached to them. I decided it to donate it to poor people who really need them. So, cleaning your closet is very important for everyone, just to know what to keep and what to discard. I had a friend who had a 6 months rule. If you don’t wear it for more than 6 months you discard it.

3. CREATE A COLOR PALETTE

Select colors which you like and which suits you. Color palette becomes your reference guide.

4. REUSE THE OUTFITS

Always try and rewear the outfits you like, that will help you to sort your wardrobe. You can always use a stretchable skirt and wear it in different ways. (as a skirt, a n off shoulder dress, dress with a jacket and many more)

5. BELIEVE IN QUALITY AND NOT IN QUANTITY

Invest in clothes which are good in quality so that you can reuse it as much as you can. Good quality clothes will obviously last longer. Long use of good quality garments is also environmentally friendly.
